Washington, D.C. – Kate Sullivan Hare, a nationally recognized health policy expert with deep experience across multiple levels of government, business, and the nonprofit sector, has joined the Alliance for Health Policy as vice president for policy and communications. In this role, Ms. Sullivan Hare will lead an integrated policy, communications, and government relations strategy that will advance the Alliance’s mission to inform solutions for improving health and health care in the United States.

“Kate’s leadership, deep policy knowledge, and broad respect from across the political spectrum will be invaluable as the Alliance builds on our nearly 30-year tradition as a trusted nonpartisan resource for health policymakers and leaders tackling today’s complex health policy challenges,” said Sarah Dash, Alliance president and CEO. “Nothing less than the health, well-being, and financial security of the American people is at stake in our health policy debates, and Kate’s track record of bringing together people with diverse perspectives to accomplish mutual goals is exactly what we need in this moment.”

“I could not be more pleased to be joining the Alliance at this critical time for health policy in America,” said Kate Sullivan Hare. “The Alliance has been there for me as a congressional staffer and throughout my health policy career, and I am thrilled to be contributing to the future of our mission to help others to better understand health policy, through the non-partisan presentation of varying points of view.”

Most recently, Ms. Sullivan Hare was chief public affairs officer at the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology. She has previously led health care policy initiatives for Intuit Inc., the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Walmart Inc., and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Additionally, she was appointed and confirmed twice to the Executive Governing Board of D.C.’s Health Benefit Exchange Authority, where she facilitated development of D.C.’s state-based marketplace. Her public sector experience includes service on Capitol Hill to former U.S. Reps. Nancy L. Johnson (R-Conn.) and Harris W. Fawell (R-Ill.) and to Illinois Governor Jim Edgar (R). She earned a master’s in health services administration from The George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree in American government and English at Georgetown.

In her new role at the Alliance, she will lead a growing team of policy and communications professionals poised to provide educational resources and a forum for dialogue for the 117th Congress, incoming administration, and policy stakeholders.
