Bipartisan Learning Communities
About the Program
This 10 month bipartisan fellowship is designed to help empower “Rising Stars” in health care policy working on Capitol Hill to deepen their expertise, knowledge, and skills, examining opportunities and challenges in health policy, health outcomes, and health coverage, leaving participants with a strong understanding of the fundamentals of policy and tools for taking on the challenges of the next generation.
Our program will address key questions like:
- How do people access care today?
- What does it mean for a policy to “work”?
- What does a system that works well look like?
- What are the key health policies that impact how people access care today? What matters most about health care in today’s world, and what is the role of health coverage?
- What is seen as successful in current health coverage models? What are the “blind spots” and unsolved challenges?
- What new methods and approaches to problem solving in health policy might we employ when we think about the future of health care in America?
- What predictions in health policy debates of the past came true and which didn’t?
- What does a fair system look like?
This new fellowship is one of a handful of available opportunities for Hill staff to participate in no-cost, nonpartisan, educational programming. This is a new way to drive the Alliance’s 30 year commitment to stakeholder neutral, tailored education and professional development in creating the next generation of health policy leaders.
Working Group
In the first phase of the program, the Alliance recruited a working group drawn from experts in the Hill community, adult education, policy education, and design thinking and convened them to offer guidance. This group laid out key considerations for an effective congressional fellowship program for future health policy leaders in the legislative branch.
Upcoming Opportunities
This fall, the Alliance for Health Policy is excited to invite health policy enthusiasts, political trailblazers, and anyone passionate about shaping the future of health care to a special social networking event. This event will be an opportunity to gather and learn more about the groundbreaking new congressional fellowship, part of the Alliance’s “Bipartisan Learning Communities” program.
This event is designed to comply with House and Senate ethics as a ‘widely attended event.’ It will be a chance to connect with other people interested in learning and development opportunities in health policy. The Alliance is breaking new ground, and we want you to be a part of it.
More details about the congressional fellowship will be available soon—stay tuned and prepare to join us in kicking off new educational opportunities and conversations in health policy.
